Forced Erect Coverage

Forced Erect Coverage (FEC) is a method used to measure the progress of foreskin restoration. It indicates the percentage of the glans (head of the penis) that can be covered with skin while fully erect. To measure FEC, the skin is forced towards the glans, and the portion of the glans that remains uncovered is measured. This value is used in a formula to determine the FEC percentage. If the skin cannot reach the glans, the FEC can be negative. Conversely, if the skin covers more than the entire glans, the FEC can exceed 100%. The typical rate of skin growth is at least 1 mm per month, with faster progress observed in some cases.

Using the FEC Calculator:

  1. Prepare for Measurement:
  • Ensure you are fully erect.
  • Gently pull the shaft skin towards the glans, attempting to cover it without causing pain.

2. Measure the Glans Showing:

  • Measure the length of the glans that is still visible (not covered by skin).
  • Enter this measurement in the "Length of Glans Showing (mm)" field.
  • If the skin extends past the glans, enter a negative value representing the distance beyond the glans.

3. Measure the Whole Glans:

  • Measure the total length of the glans and enter this measurement in the "Length of Whole Glans (mm)" field.

4. Calculate FEC:

Click the "Calculate FEC" button. The calculator will display the FEC as a percentage.

This percentage indicates how much of the glans can be covered by the skin.

Example 1 - when erect coverage is less than 100%:

Here in the first picture the glans length is measured at 39mm. With the skin forced up while erect in the second picture you can see 14mm of glans showing.

Now we take our measurements and put them into the calculator as shown:

Length of Glans Showing (mm) = 14mm

Length of Whole Glans (mm) = 39mm

Click "Calculate FEC" and the result shows a FEC Result of 64.1%

Example 2 - when erect coverage is more than 100%:

In this picture see how a blunt tool can be used to sound the depth within the skin tube, prodding until the tip of the glans is touched (of course be careful nothing enters the urethra).

The tool is withdrawn and the distance from the observed coverage point to the end is measured at 24mm - since its past the end of the tip we will enter as -24mm.

Now we take our measurements and put them into the calculator as shown:

Length of Glans Showing (mm) = -24

Length of Whole Glans (mm) = 39

Click "Calculate FEC" and the result shows a FEC Result of 161.5%

In Summary:

The tricky parts about FEC are being FULLY erect and forcing skin AS FAR AS it will go without causing pain. The pain thing is for each individual to gauge. As for full erection, if you repeat the measurement a few times in the span of a couple minutes, the largest glans length you get would correspond to the fullest erection. The largest “glans showing” number that you get while rolling skin up would also correspond to the fullest erection (assuming you’re forcing your skin equally as hard each time) so use the largest numbers you would record on a certain day in all cases.

To re-iterate, you should FORCE the skin over the glans with no regard at all to where the skin came from or how hairy it is, because this technique of tugging just short of the point of causing pain is the way to get a reproducible measurement.
